Recreating Documentation

A few months ago one of our students created this with blocks:

She explored a variety of different shapes and discussed the different sizes of the blocks as well. She found a really interesting way to represent herself without paper at all.

This week she decided to revisit the idea of creating herself with blocks. This time she built her person and then decided it looked more like a robot. She decided to incorporate real clothing from the lost and found to create her robot.

It is incredible how documentation inspires children. Another student used blocks in a similar way after seeing the beautiful photo that we printed and displayed. This student also created a robot and explained in depth how it's features work.We later wrote about their robots and created comics with them. It was a genuine writing opportunity as they were interested and excited to engage!
